A Baptism

This last Saturday was such a good day. My friend Dominique (who I work with, and he lives in our ward boundaries) was baptized on Saturday. He was introduced to the Gospel by some people outside of our ward boundaries and they set up the most beautiful baptism. He and his wife, Specie, were baptized and I felt the Spirit so strongly!

Dominique and Specie are from Rwanda, and they have two adorable daughters. Dominique is going to school right now. Last week, I asked Dominique how things were going, and he told me that his wife had just had a miscarriage and she was really sad. I asked what I could do, and he said, "We are getting baptized on Saturday. You should come." I said I would be there, and then he shared something that really touched me: "I know Heavenly Father has a plan, and even though we are sad about the baby, it will be all right."

They were so ready for baptism.

The whole meeting was great. After their baptism, Dominique shared his testimony and it was a very mature testimony. Specie isn't very comfortable speaking English, (but she's fluent in French, as is Dominique) and she sang a song in their Rwandan language. Even though I had no idea what they were singing, I still felt chills as they shared their feelings about the Gospel in song. Dominique told us that it meant something like "God is good and He will provide when we exercise faith."

On Sunday, the Primary went on a field trip to their confirmation. I'm the pianist, so I went with our 4 kids to hear the confirmation. It was great and they both looked so happy once they had received the Holy Ghost.

I'm grateful that my testimony was strengthened. I have more of a desire to share the Gospel with people now that I've seen how happy it made this little family.

Cello Lessons

I have been teaching a little guy named Brandon cello lessons for about a month. I have a great deal with his parents. They pay me and give me fresh eggs - straight from the chicken's butt. It is wonderful.

I am really enjoying teaching cello to Brandon. I was so happy today when he came to lessons today and his D Major scale was really good! He also passed off two songs and he was really excited about how well he had them down. It make me happy to see how much fun he was having with the cello. I like to talk to him about his orchestra class, and to remind him that rests are just as important as the notes. He is really funny and loves making music money at his orchestra class. Another of Brandon's favorite cello activities is telling him that he already learned that song with his cello teacher. I kick butt.

I am reminded of how much I like to play the cello. I'm really glad that I joined the Cache Chamber Orchestra this year because I have missed the cello. Sure, occasional Church numbers are nice, but it is so wonderful to play something hard and then get better at it. My favorite piece is a sort of modern piece by Dag Wiren. Click here to hear my favorite movement that we are playing. Sorry if you guys don't like modern music - I do when it is melodic. I also love romantic music because the cellos get to slurp and slide around! So come to our concert on November 22 at 7:30 pm at Kent Concert Hall. It will be awesome.

Doing the Dishes

I actually hate doing the dishes, and Andrew usually does them. Sometimes we do them together. Usually I avoid doing them at all cost. Today I did them.

I thought I'd do something nice for Andrew cuz he does so so many nice things for me, like wake up early and be my exercise buddy even when he doesn't want to, tell me I'm beautiful when I really look like crap, and so on and so on. He is just a really nice guy. Therefore, I did the dishes. And I also didn't want to read the assigned biography on Cesar Chavez for school.
To make doing the dishes more fun, I made A LOT of bubbles, cuz everything is eight times more fun if bubbles are involved.

The pink sponge I used to wash the dishes. Andrew bought it (for me). Well not really, he just wanted the blue and orange sponges also in the package. I claim the pink one.

Nasty picture of me, but that is ok cuz I am doing the dishes!

Look at the beautiful and clean dishes! It is a symbol of my love for Andrew.

Another nice thing Andrew did in the recent past was clean up this room. I usually am the one who messes it up. It was great - I didn't feel well, and I laid on the clean floor and read for school while he studied at the desk. Then we snuggled on the floor and listened to Disney music and it was so wonderful!

We have also FINALLY gotten around to doing some decorating. It is hard to nail things into cinderblock when all you have is a hammer! But this is something we've planned since the summer. Our happily ever after sign and our Ears from our honeymoon! It is cute and I love it.

Well, Cesar Chavez calls, and I really do need to read. Basically, Andrew is my best bud and I love having fun with him on the weekends and being in the same room but doing my own thing while he does his on weeknights. Well, that second part I could do without I guess.
